The system is clearly to disconnect the celesta, I don't think I'm making any misinterpretations. But as Frans pointed out correctly this device
was only standard present in harmonium-celesta's with roll player: the grand concertal (Mustel) & Scheola models with celesta (Schiedmayer).
So probably it's not original in my instrument.
Still the mechanism makes sense too on regular harmonium-celesta's: playing harmonium solo on the higher manual, close to the stopknobs.
The grand concertal has indeed 2 stopknobs for this, but as it's celesta appears to have only 4 octaves, the left one will probably only work for c - e (17 notes).
C-H doesn't couple to the lower manual when a 5 octave celesta is present, which used to be the case in my instrument.
