The seller is WRONG. There is NO Celesta in this instrument.

He just added "celesta" to have more viewers. He also mentions "Mustel". I think the uppercase exists of a second reed chamber.

The instrument clearly needs restoration, value is probably €10.000 at his very highest. It doesn't have a double expression..

It might be wise to not publish all kind of "I think of" without ANY information on the true facts about the instrument. A few people are working on creating a document with the FACTS.

Also sending e-mails about the price etc, while you never will be able to purchase such an instrument, is distrurbing in a VERY DELICATE process. STOP THE NONSENSE!

About this giant Schiedmayer Church-Harmonium some additional Information.

A few years ago this instrument was found and sold for $ 100 and was moved to Kent Arnold. He started to restore the instrument. His sudden death meant that the present seller took over the business. He worked sometime on this instrument but got stuck in the process.

Next the instrument was researched by a qualified restorer. It now seems that a total restoration will be close to € 50,000.

Some peculiar fact about the instrument.

Built ca 1877. It has indeed two chests, the lower manual a horizontal chest, the upper chest vertical. In many respects this instrument was an experimental instrument, a mix of German pressure reeds by Schiedmayer, an a number of ranks fitted with American suction reeds of high quality.

Even the way the action is built different from what Schiedmayer used to do.

It will take quite some time to research all available pictures of the inside of the action. And to avoid misinterpretation and suggestions, we have decided to NOT publish the pictures for now.

It is clear in any sense that a full restoration can only be done by the best restorers we have available. Plus the cost of shipping and taxes

Given the situation it might take quite some time before it really will be restored in full.


Quelques informations supplémentaires à propos de cet « Harmonium d’église » géant de Schiedmayer.
Il y a quelques années, cet instrument a été trouvé et vendu pour 100 $ et a été placé chez Kent Arnold. Il a commencé à restaurer l'instrument. Suite à sa mort subite, le vendeur actuel a repris l'entreprise. Il a travaillé un certain temps sur cet instrument, mais est resté coincé au beau milieu de la restauration.

Par la suite, l'instrument a été estimé par un restaurateur qualifié. Il semble qu'une restauration totale s’élèverait à près de 50 000 €. Plus les frais d'expédition et taxes.

Un fait curieux sur l'instrument.

Construit ca. 1877, il a en effet deux sommiers. Le clavier le plus bas un sommier horizontal, le clavier du haut un sommier vertical. À bien des égards, cet instrument était un instrument expérimental, un mélange d’anches à pression allemande construites par Schiedmayer, et un certain nombre de rangs équipés d'anches aspirantes américaines de haute qualité.

Même la façon dont la mécanique est construite diffère de ce que Schiedmayer était habitué à faire.

Il faudra un certain temps pour l’étude complète des images disponibles de l'intérieur de la mécanique. Et pour éviter toute interprétation hâtive et erronée, nous avons décidé de ne pas publier ces photos pour l'instant.

Il est clair en tout cas qu'une restauration complète ne peut être faite par les meilleurs restaurateurs dont nous disposons.
